32 trainee telecommunications and information engineering technicians from the TU Vienna / Vienna University of Technology spent a morning at the TÜV AUSTRIA Technology & Innovation Center in Vienna-Inzersdorf for a personal knowledge update on electromagnetic compatibility.

After a short presentation about TÜV AUSTRIA’s multifaceted safety- and security-related services in Austria and throughout the world by our head of Sales, Martin Hofstädtner, and our head of Human Resources, Philipp Huber, TÜV AUSTRIA’s EMC experts, Wilhelm Seier and Andreas Malek, gave an overview about conformity assessments and interference-free operation of electrical equipment and electronic components.

The spectrum of EMC tests was presented to the students by TÜV AUSTRIA. These ranged from strength testing of products and apparatus, such as that in the medical technology sector, to the testing of vehicle components and entire vehicles, including construction machinery, industrial machinery and escalator heads, to multimedia equipment, radio systems and large transmitter systems.

Finally, in the two EMC test halls, standard-compliant assessment of emitted interference and interference resistance, which is also required for the CE marking of products, was explained in terms of practical situations.

In addition to clarifying technical issues, the students also had an opportunity to obtain insights into TÜV AUSTRIA Group as an employer. Every year, TÜV AUSTRIA Group recruits between 60 and 70 technical experts in the fields of telecommunications and information technology, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, training them to become specialists for TÜV AUSTRIA’s multifaceted testing and inspection tasks.

The “lecture” of a very special kind ended with lunch together before the group set off for the ORF’s large transmitter system in Moosbrunn from TÜV AUSTRIA Technology & Innovation Center.
