The new ISO standard Occupational health and safety management system was only implemented in March of this year. Property and Facility Management at Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) has now been the first company in Austria to receive the new certificate. “We see it as an essential part of our corporate responsibility to protect our employees from accidents and illnesses,” said BIG CEO Wolfgang Gleissner. The new requirements with a strong focus on risk management will above all make it possible to identify “unsafe operations” performed by employees early on so as to provide them with appropriate assistance in their tasks.
Commitment to a high level of responsibility
Aiming to reduce risks of accidents at work and work-related illnesses, the new ISO 45001 defines requirements for modern occupational health and safety management systems. ““Healthy and motivated employees are companies’ greatest assets for success. Certification in accordance with the future-oriented ISO 45001 standard is a clear commitment to a high level of responsibility toward one’s employees. We are pleased that BIG is consistently pursuing this path,” said Andreas Dvorak, head of TÜV AUSTRIA’s certification body,” said Andreas Dvorak, head of TÜV AUSTRIA’s certification body, at the award ceremony.
