However, McDonald’s also wishes to contribute to a successful energy transition by increasing the company’s energy efficiency.
To this end, 195 restaurants and the McDonald’s headquarters in Brunn am Gebirge underwent a certification audit by TÜV AUSTRIA over the last couple of months.
The certification process went smoothly, culminating in top marks for Austria’s number-one burger specialist. The energy management system is put into practice excellently – from the company’s Energy Officer to restaurant managers in charge through to the staff in general. On the whole, the audit partners presented themselves as competent “McGreens” with a sustainability mindset.
Stefan Haas, CEO of TÜV AUSTRIA: “In day-to-day corporate business, good energy management only works when the entire company actively contributes towards the common goal. This is the case with McDonald’s Österreich. Our auditors were impressed with the exceptional top-to-bottom implementation of the energy management system. This exemplary conduct at the same time increases the company’s competitive edge.”
“We have made it our goal to orient our core business towards the future responsibly. This includes operating in a resource-friendly manner. We endeavour to live by this commitment each and every day – by buying regional ingredients for our burgers, by purchasing electricity from Austrian hydropower and by making our staff aware of a responsible use of energy. We can make our energy consumption even more efficient with an active energy management”, according to Andreas Schmidlechner, CEO of McDonald’s Österreich.
McDonald’s has demonstrated that sustainable thinking has long since found its way into the corporate policy, considering the company’s waste minimisation and disposal programme as well as the purchase of 100 % green electricity. With a dedicated and active energy management system, this commitment is now being continued further in a remarkable manner.
