At the beginning of September, thirty-six new apprentices were welcomed at the training center, a good sign in view of a recent study that indicates many youth are not getting an education.

"We are committed to young people, since they are the craftsmen and engineers of tomorrow," says Reinhard Rubicko, Director of Apprentice Training at TÜV AUSTRIA-OMV Akademie Weinviertel.  The new apprentices were greeted at the Gänserndorf training center by Director DI Reinhard Oswald, (OMV Austria) as well as by others who are responsible for trainees and personnel, apprentice advocates, and representatives of the companies who have accepted apprentices.

These training opportunities have been available to youth and adults since 2013 when TÜV AUSTRIA Akademie and OMV AG joined forces on the collaboration project. The importance of this was revealed in a recently published study, contracted by multiple government ministries, which found that 16,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 17 are not enrolled in any educational or training program, although some form of education has been mandatory for youth under the age of 18 since August 1st.

Since 2013, an increasing number of companies, such as Borealis Polyolefine GmbH and Bilfinger Chemsery GmbH, have been taking advantage of the extensive offerings from TÜV AUSTRIA-OMV Akademie Weinviertel. Even OMV AG itself sends its new employees to Gänserndorf for training. The apprenticeships are mostly in technical areas, such as systems and operational engineering, mechanical engineering, automation and process control, and chemical process engineering. Training is also available in the field of industrial business management. In addition, preparation courses for the final examinations are also available for all apprenticeships.

Applications for September of 2017 may be submitted beginning in the fall of 2016: www.omv.at/lehre

Courses for adults in fields like electrical engineering, fire protection, and safety engineering are also quite popular. The location is beloved not just for the knowledgeable teachers, but also for the training spaces themselves. "The Gänserndorf training center offers industrial companies cutting-edge training facilities," according to Mag. (FH) Christian Bayer, Director of TÜV AUSTRIA-OMV Akademie Weinviertel. More information on technical training programs through TÜV AUSTRIA-OMV Akademie Weinviertel is available in the updated course program here: www.tuv-akademie.at/kursprogramm
