TÜV AUSTRIA Academy trains BAK

The FEDERAL BUREAU OF CORRUPTION PREVENTION AND ANTI-CORRUPTION (BAK), a department of the FEDERAL MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR (BM.I), cooperates with BM.I to cover a broad range of public services. The tasks range from public safety to the delicate handling of prosecutions, staff recruitment, technical building safety, the use of social media and apps through to receiving international delegations (contact with 50 countries!) to discuss issues such as corruption prevention and human rights.
BAK and BM.I have taken joint steps towards risk management and have dealt with issues such as identifying and assessing risks.
This is why Ms Veronika Haubner-Immervoll, Division Manager for Resources at BAK, approached TÜV AUSTRIA Academy with concrete plans for a course to train risk managers. A key factor in the project was the application of risk management with a focus on safety and security risks as well as compliance risks. It was important for BAK and BM.I to familiarise their employees with the theory after having gained practical experience with risk management, and to complement this with a recognised qualification.
The certification examination comprised two individual project reports which were presented to the examination board to demonstrate that the participants know how to apply the instruments of risk management. They showed great personal commitment regarding their projects’ subjects, which is beneficial to risk management in general.
